We are Eagle Motorsports

About Us

Eagle Motorsports is the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Chapter at Georgia Southern University. We consist of a Baja SAE and Formula Electric SAE team. Both teams compete in a collegiate motorsport racing series in which students use technological innovation and advanced engineering analysis to build Baja and formula-style race cars. Teams design and build a new car each year, taking knowledge from previous years and working together within a specific time frame in order to complete their vehicle for competition. Each team competes in various events ranging from business, design, cost, and racing events against teams from across the globe.

Through Eagle Motorsports (EMS), students are able to gain experience outside of their specific major and basic engineering courses. These skills can include marketing, resource management, budgeting, communication, time management, public relations, organization, and soft skills. In addition, EMS opens the opportunity for undergraduate students to learn advanced topics, professional software, and machinery that are taught in higher-level courses.

This cumulative experience allows students to face real-world challenges and gain hands-on experience during college, allowing them to have a competitive advantage in the industrial workforce after graduating.

EMS really helps broaden one’s own
sense of engineering mindset and help solidify that mindset by putting into place learned soft and technical skills. EMS is an awesome way to back up what is learned in a classroom environment.

EMS walks you through the design process so early, and that’s an experience you can’t normally get until your final design project. This club showed me how to be an engineer.
