DAQ/Electrical

The acronym DAQ stands for data acquisition. This subteam makes use of various sensors, computer software, and custom-built testing stands to collect and process data from system performance. Such performance data is necessary to validate design changes as well as to verify proper functionality.

What We Do

The electrical team is significantly more in-depth than in previous years as we have moved to a fully electric car from internal combustion. The electrical team is separated into multiple subsections that are all very important. The accumulator team is the team that designs and manufactures the battery. Data acquisition mounts sensors to the car to get useful data and optimize our setup. Simulation and software simulate the car and programs anything that needs to be programmed on the car.

Application

Formula: As we plan to transition from the Internal Combustion competition to the Electric Vehicle competition this year, the electrical team is incredibly important to the car running at all. We make sure that all of our sims are accurate with DAQ and then act on that information to optimize the car’s performance.
